Pre School Education

At Newtown Road Day Nursery once the children become pre-school we introduce the specific areas of learning which are:

• Literacy
• Mathematics
• Understanding the world
• Expressive Art and Design

Alongside our continuous provision we plan activities and resources to encourage the children to learn and develop in these areas. Each child’s Key Person will plan individually for each child in a fun and unique way to ensure they are learning to the best of their ability.

At Newtown Road Day Nursery we also promote school readiness and confidence with the pre-school children and encourage them to be as independent as possible. Whether that would be setting up their own snack and lunch tables, self-contained toilets, brushing teeth after meals and putting on their own coats to go outside. We feel this is important as it prepares the children for what is coming next and gives them the confidence to do so.
